Title: The Blue Hole
Author: Niebergall, Ernst
Description: Castalia's Blue Hole developed about 1820. The theory is that a dam built on Cold Creek to power a mill caused water to pool. The weight of the pooled water made the roof of an underground river collapse and the river water to "spring" through the opening. The Blue Hole is one of several such sink holes in the Castalia, Ohio, area where a network of underground rivers flow.
