Description: The "Puritan" was a popular steamer running out of Buffalo to Crystal Beach across the eastern tip of Lake Erie to Canada. Built in 1893 at Buffalo, the wooden propellor steamer ran for a time with the "Pilgrim" which later went to the Atlantic coast. About 1904, she was converted into the tug "Sandy Hook", owned by Ben L. Cowles of Buffalo. She was destroyed by fire.
