The "Flint & Pere Marquette No. 2" was built at the Detroit Dry Dock Company at Detroit, Michigan in 1882. She was built of wood and was of 537 gross tons. She was placed on the Ludington, Michigan - Milwaukee, Wisconsin run the following year. She carried grain, flour, and passengers. In 1901, her name was changed to "Pere Marquette No. 2" and in 1906, she was renamed the "Dundurn." From 1906 to 1919, she was under the ownership of the Hamilton & Montreal Navigation Company (Canadian registry 112207). While outbound from Ashtabula, Ohio to Toronto, Ontario, with coal, and in tow of tug "Home Rule," she foundered northeast of the Ashtabula breakwater. Two lives were lost. |
