Description:	My internship period with Compaq began December 12, 1998 and ran until March 19, 1999. I was assigned to a network support team Compaq had organized to work with the newly formed General Electric Financial Assurance (GEFA) group. During my internship, I documented various aspects of the GEFA computer network and worked with managers to author the service agreements between the Compaq team and GEFA. I created dozens of different network drawings in collaboration with the technical manager and wrote the agreements by interviewing team members about their duties. The resulting relationships and efforts surpassed the expectations of everyone involved and were highly instructive to me. Reflecting on this internship revealed to me the ambassadorial nature of technical communication in profound ways, and my mistakes were equally illuminating once I took the time to reflect on them.
