Title: School Psychologists on the Public Relations Front: What are Practitioners Doing?
Author: Grantz, Amanda K.
Description: Despite recommendations in the literature, public relations in school psychology is an area that has received very little research attention. The purpose of this study was to gather baseline data on the specific public relations activities of practicing school psychologists using a survey based on the recommended practices found in the literature. A preliminary analysis of the variables that could be related to public relations activity was also conducted. Results revealed that teachers were the most frequently targeted consumer group, followed by parents and students. Significant differences in public relations activity were also found among various demographic and job site characteristics. The importance of public relations activities, limitations of the study, and directions for future research are discussed.
