| Title: | COMPARING FOOT PRESSURES DURING FEEDING IN TWO DISTINCT GROUPS OF CHILDREN |
| Author: | Yakey, Abigail Brodrick |
| Description: | The purpose of this study was to observe typically developing children ages 6 to 18 months during feeding times and to study trends between foot pressures and awake arousal and attention levels. Ten subjects sat in a prototype highchair for three feeding trials and foot pressures were collected. Study results show that the older children exerted more foot pressure for a greater amount of time. Older children also used both feet more consistently when pushing. Future research is needed to determine the effects of foot pressure as a means of self-regulating and transitioning between awake arousal and attention levels. |
