| Description: | In 1881, John Oades built the “Ariel” in Detroit, Michigan. She was built for Hiram Walker of the Walkerville Ferry Co. and used for ferrying for forty-one years. From 1922 until approximately 1942, she was operated by the Michigan Highway Commission. She then sat idle for a number of years. In February 1948, she capsized during a rainstorm, and was later raised and dismantled in Detroit. |
