| Title: | REPORT ON AN INTERNSHIP WITH HANDEX OF ILLINOIS, INC MARCH 2001 THROUGH AUGUST 2001 |
| Author: | Molholm, James M |
| Description: | The purpose of this report is to describe my internship with Handex of Illinois, Inc., an environmental consulting firm specializing in soil and groundwater remediation. During the internship, I was employed as a hydrogeologist. In this position, I participated in field investigations and helped prepare technical reports for submission to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Most of the activities completed were driven by the statutory requirements of the Illinois Leaking Underground Storage Tank regulations. The field investigations consisted of the completion of soil borings, construction of groundwater monitoring wells, removal of underground storage tanks, and sampling of various media using United States Environmental Protection Agency Methodologies. This paper summarizes my experiences and draws comparisons between the Illinois regulations and the Institute of Environmental Sciences Environmental Problem Solving Process. |
