Title:	FEAR AND RISK OF FALLING AMONG COMMUNITY-DWELLING OLDER ADULTS

Description:	The purpose of this research was to examine personal characteristics, health status, fall history, and balance as predictors of three components of fear of falling identified by the Survey of Activities and Fear of Falling in the Elderly (SAFE) (Lachman et al., 1998) (i.e. activity level, worry about falling, and activity restriction). The paper starts out with a statement of the problem, a conceptualization of the research, an assessment of the key concepts and gaps in the literature, and the purpose of the research. Next, methods are described. The third section presents the results of multiple analyses. Overall it was found that health status (subjective assessment and total comorbidities), balance ability, and being female differently predicted the three domains of fear of falling. The paper concludes with a discussion of the results, presents limitations of the study, and proposes possible directions for future research.
