Title: Operationalizing Family Religiosity: A Practical Definition
Author: Polzin, Lewis Robert
Description: This paper focuses on the conceptualization of the term family religiosity. Family religiosity has been used as a variable in many social science surveys and reports, but it has never been formally operationalized. Using several families from the Southwestern Ohio area, 69 themes, 10 constructs, and 5 major dimensions of family religiosity were discovered using basic open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Information was gathered through grand-tour-approach-based, qualitative interviews and brief quantitative surveys. This paper also includes the limitations of the study and includes hypothetical, yet practical uses for the information presented.
