Steven J. Grudzinski was an undergraduate student at Kent State University in 1970 and he describes his memories of events he witnessed on campus May 3-4, 1970. He describes the military presence on campus, including helicopters using searchlights. On May 4, he passed through the Commons while the demonstration was going on and the National Guard was starting to use tear gas. He describes returning to his dormitory, Leebrick Hall, and relates what happened there. He was on the 6th floor when he heard the shots and one of the bullets hit inside the building. He also describes the evacuation of campus later that day and photographs he took on both days of military vehicles, armored personnel carriers, National Guard troops lining Route 59, and the ROTC Military Science Building. |
