Author: Brauning, William
Description: William Brauning was an undergraduate student at Kent State University in 1970 and he discusses his memories of the shootings on campus. He describes the helicopters that circled over Kent and the searchlights that were used. He describes arriving at the Commons shortly after the shootings had taken place and he talks about the photographs he took of Guardsmen. He also describes seeing one of the victims, surrounded by a group of people, before the ambulances arrived and how Dr. Glenn Frank convinced him and others in that group to leave campus for their own safety. He discusses his memories of Sandy Scheuer, one of the students killed in the shootings, who had been his lab partner in a class.
