Title: Parents Perception of Emotional Disturbance: Their Child is in Special Education
Author: Addis, Emily M.
Description: The researcher investigated the parents/ guardians perceptions of their child being labeled emotionally disturbed. The researcher surveyed the parent/ guardian of students enrolled in the Washington County Educational Service Center- ED program. They were given various questions to answer about how their child being labeled emotionally disturbed affected them and their family. The researcher was available to do a one on one interview if that was necessary. After the surveys were collected and information compared, the parents/ guardians agree for the most part with the label of emotional disturbance. They want their child to do well and have a “normal” successful life.
