Title: Assessment of Expressive Therapies in Summer Bereavement Camps
Author: Kohut, Mary K.
Description: Bereavement camps are a method of help in the grieving process for children who have experienced a loss through death. The purpose of this study is to assess three different bereavement camps and their use of expressive therapies. A goal of the camps is to normalize the grieving process through education and to provide an opportunity to meet other children who have also experienced a loss. In addition, the camps provide interventions through art, music, and play that allow the children to express and cope with their feelings associated with grief and find an avenue to memorialize the loved one. The structure of the camps and the use of the expressive therapies are measured by evaluations of those involved with the camps.
