| Description: | The "Eastland" was built at Port Huron, Michigan in 1903. Early in her career she was used on Lake Michigan in the excursion trade. After the "Eastland" wrecked in 1915, with the loss of 835 lives, she was sold to the U.S. government, who remodeled her into a training ship known as the U.S.S. "Wilmette". This photograph shows the "Eastland" entering Cleveland, Ohio in 1908. |
