Title: THE JOURNEY THROUGH HOW RITUAL AND CINEMATOGRAPHIC MONTAGE CREATE A PATH TRANSLATABLE TO THE DESIGN OF AN AIRPORT TERMINAL
Author: FEDUN, WILLIAM, III
Description: The airports of the world today have become meaningless entities that travelers simply pass through on their way to a destination. This can be attributed to the security measures enforced in the post 9-11 era, but there is also an aspect of spatial qualities that ascribe to the lack of comfortable features that have become inherent to airport terminals today. The various ways that a ritualistic journey can be translated to the design of a building is researched; this series became a starting point for how to look at a path through space created by designers. In architecture, paths create transitions to and from spaces and are an important entity to the success of the design. They are one of the most important elements that produce unity within a structure. This document will serve as a basis for how the journey can morph a design into something different.
