dc.description Chapter 4: Le Miracle de Theophile is an example of the miracles of the religious theatre. Here, Theophile, the "medieval Faust," turns to the Virgin Mary to help release him from his pact with the devil.
dc.description This electronic book was created by Xavier University students participating in the fall 2008 class of Medieval and Renaissance French Literature taught by Jo Ann M. Recker, SND de N., Professor of French, Xavier University. Each student selected an early French literary masterpiece from the 12th to the 15th centuries, and rewrote their selection so as to make it accessible to those with an equivalent of one year of study of the French language.
