dc.description Father Hill was born near Lebanon, Kentucky, January 21, 1822. He was graduated from St. Mary's College, Kentucky, in 1843 and then taught for five years at his Alma Mater. He entered the Society of Jesus February 3, 1847, and four years after his ordination was appointed President of St. Xavier where he built the present Faculty building. Later he taught Philosophy for thirteen years in St. Louis, was Pastor for twelve years in Chicago and for the ten years preceding his death was again stationed in St. Louis.
