dc.description	Thomas O'Neil came to America from Ireland in the year 1839 at the age of seventeen. After studying four years at St. Louis University he entered the Society of Jesus in 1844. He was ordained priest in 1857. In the course of his life-time he was Rector at Bardstown, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago and Florissant. He was Provincial of the Missouri Province from 1871 to 1878. He celebrated his Golden Jubilee as a Jesuit while Rector at Florissant, in 1894. In 1895 he returned to Cincinnati as Spiritual Father and died here March 2, 1899. --Anonymous Alumnus, The Xavier Athenaeum, July 1916
