| Description: | Leopold Bushart entered the Society of Jesus in Belgium, his native country, in 1854, and three years later came to America with Fr. De Smet. Fr. Bushart was stationed at Cincinnati on four different occasions - in 1863 and 1869 as professor of philosophy; from 1872 to 1875 as President; from 1890 to 1893 as treasurer. He was Rector at St. Louis from 1875 to 1878, at Milwaukee from 1893 to 1898 and Provincial from 1882 to 1885. At the time of his death in St. Louis, September 1, 1909, he was treasurer of the Missouri Province. --Anonymous Alumnus, The Xavier Athenaeum, July 1916 |
