Description: | The "Kakabeka" was built in 1884 at Toronto, Ontario for Thomas Marks Co. of Port Arthur, Ontario and used as a ferry between Port Arthur and Fort William. She was tied up at Silver Islet and broke her mooring lines in a winter gale and under heavy ice pressure. She drifted ashore at Sand Island, Lake Superior, Dec. 12, 1895 and went to pieces. |
