Description: The "Marine City" was built at Marine City, Michigan by Thomas Arnold in 1866. She was built of wood and was of 382 gross tons. She was built for the River and Lake Shore Line of Detroit, Michigan. She ran between Detroit and Mackinac Island, stopping at ports along the route. She caught fire and burned to the water's edge off Sturgeon Point, two miles from Alcona, Michigan, Lake Huron on August 28, 1880. She was carrying passengers, lumber, and fish. Nine lives were lost.
